Too early for Christmas music?

When is it too early to start the Christmas spirit? Today more and more stores are playing Christmas related music, but is it too early? Some people think Christmas is amazing and they never want it to end, so they don’t mind all the early decoration or the music. Others wouldn’t quite agree and argue that we should wait until after Thanksgiving to start the Christmas celebration.

Most of the time we don’t stop to think how all this early music affects the employees that work at the stores playing the music for hours at a time. A local supermarket started playing Christmas music from the end of Halloween to the beginning of the New Year. One of their employees was a diligent worker but could no longer stand the irritating Christmas music. He only saw one way out of his hell on earth so he decided to quit, all because of the music.

Some psychologists even say that all this Christmas music can affect your mental health. CBS News stated that clinical psychologist, Linda Blair, claims the constant barrage of Christmas tunes too early in the season forces people to remember all the things they have to do before the holiday. Blair says the songs are a reminder to buy presents, cater parties, organize travel, and all the more stressful chores during Christmas. This can drive people crazy.

At the end of the day, the most important thing is to enjoy the holidays in the way that makes you the happiest. Whether that is listening to holiday music from October or only listening to it a few weeks from Christmas, the important thing is to spend time with the people you love and making memories to last a lifetime.
