Superbowl Ads Steal the Show

In February, millions of people watched the yearly NFL Superbowl. Many people can’t wait until the game because they want to watch the commercials. This year there were multiple really good ones.

The different commercials were almost like movie trailers: “Dirty Dancing” by the Giants quarterback and wide receiver, Alexa losing her voice, and many more. Super Bowl LII had many advertisers doing the commercials such as Bud Light, M&Ms, Pepsi, Doritos, Coca-Cola, Budweiser, TurboTax, Tide, NFL, Hyundai and more. But those spots don’t come cheap. If you wanted to buy a thirty-second space for a commercial you would have to pay $5 million to NBC.

Out of all the 2018 Superbowl commercials, five that were the best. The top 5 were: “Dirty Dancing”, “It’s a Tide Ad”, “Did Alexa lose her voice?”, “Doritos and Mountain Dew” and “Crocodile Dundee.” The “Dirty Dancing” advertisement was one of the best because it had Eli Manning and Odell Beckham Jr playing catch and then started dancing to the song “Dirty Dancing.”

According to a poll taken in UME’s journalism class, four people picked the “Dirty Dancing” as the best commercial of the Superbowl, three picked “Alexa Lost Her Voice,” and two for the “Doritos and Mountain Dew.”
