Bumblebee: Will it flop?

The newest movie to hit theaters is another Transformers movie. Bumblebee is a spin-off movie following the little yellow Beetle as he tries to protect his friend Charlie (played by Hailee Steinfeld) from the decepticons who have landed on Earth.

This movie has given Transformers fans hope due to the new direction this movie is going in. Instead of being directed by Michael Bay as they usually are, its being directed by Travis Knight who directed movies like Kubo and Coraline from the studio Laika. But just because the movie is being directed by somebody else doesn’t mean it’s going to be a good movie. The other five Transformers movies haven’t exactly been the best movies. The latest Transformers film, The Last Knight, did the worst out of all of the Transformers movies only grossing about “41 million”, according to Variety.com, which might seem like a lot of money, but for the series that’s not a lot.

According to BoxOfficeMojo the first live action Transformers film grossed $319 million dollars, “which shows how much the amount has deteriorated movie to movie.” People are really hopeful for this movie to do well, the redesigns of the characters have longtime fans hooked onto the movie now and it could cause this movie to do as well or even better than Transformers 2007.

Also, instead of being an action packed thriller this movie will be more story and character driven, focusing on the relationship between Bumblebee and Charlie. The movie comes out December 21 this year. We will have to wait and see how good the movie is, whether it’s actually worth watching, and if you need to bother spending your money on the movie. I really do hope this movie does well; the character designs look awesome, and the story seems pretty good.
